The George Hotel is situated in Cliffe just over the River Tees at Piercebridge, a sleepy village on the border of Yorkshire and County Durham. A restored coaching inn, it has beautiful gardens and views of the river. The rural retreat offers tranquility and history as it is said to be the place in the 1880’s that Henry Clay Work wrote the song about the Grandfather clock which is situated in the hotel. The house beer is Mithril George Bitter.
