Ale Trail 2024 - Events

We are running a series of events to assist Ale Trailers who may not be too familiar with all of the pubs on the list, or may just want to partake in a more sociable way, to get around the pubs.

Saturday 21st September - Darlington Town Walk
Meet at 2:30pm in the House of Hop. We aim to take in all of the central town pubs to get your Ale Trail off to a flying start.

Saturday 28th September - Outing to Newton Aycliffe
We will make use of public transport to get ourselves up to Turbinia and Steam Machine. We will be catching the 2:38pm Number 7 bus from Tubwell Row Stand H, getting us to Burnhill Way in Newton Aycliffe for 3:08pm and is only a couple of hundred yards from the pub.

After a few beers (and collecting our sticker!) we will get the same #7 (going the other way this time) from Burnhill Way at 4:41pm round to St. Cuthburts Way for another short walk up to Steam Machine Brewery Tap for around 5:10pm

There are regular bus and train services back to Darlington right up to 11:06pm.

Saturday 5th October 2:30pm - Bus Trip
Departing from House of Hop, Darlington at 2:30PM sharp, we're taking in:

  • The Crown Inn, Manfield
  • The Travellers Rest, Skeeby
  • The Old Well Inn, Barnard Castle
  • The Three Horseshoes, Barnard Castle
  • The Baydale Beck

We will be returning back to Darlington Town Centre for 8:30pm. The cost will be £15.
This was a popular event this year and numbers are limited so please book early if you are interested using this form:

Sunday 29th October - Darlington Town Walk 2
It's the final day of the Ale Trail. Use this opportunity to mop up any missing pubs from your map as we start at Darlington Snooker Club at 2:30pm and work our way back to town.
